I just saw on the news that there is a beach advisory from Florida to Massachusetts due to Hurricane Bill.  I am a little bummed because we are going down on Thursday with our four young children.  Is anyone down there now who would be able to give a report on the surf conditions?  It sounds like the lifeguards are going to have their hands full this weekend after having a pretty calm summer so far!

Also, in reference to the new Italian place on rt. 54, my parents ate there this weekend and loved it!  They reported that the service was excellent, prices were all over the place ($12-$34), and the food was very good.  They also said that it seems to be generating more and more business as the summer continues.  They called ahead, and the hostess reserved a table for their party of 4.

We just got back from the beach yesterday (8/22). The surf was amazing!!!! The waves were HUGE. At that point, they didn't close the beach yet. Although, if it got any worse (and it was forecasted to get alot worse), I can't imagine they would let people get into the water. On Friday, my wife and I were standing ankle deep and within 5 seconds it was waist deep, pulling us in. VERY DANGEROUS!!!

I absolutely LOVE to see the ocean when it's like that.  I don't go in it, but I'll stand there and watch it forever!  Glad you had the sense to stay out, because a lot of people don't .  There have been tons of rescues all weekend up and down the coast.

We got back last evening.  The waves were amazing this weekend, with Saturday late afternoon being the best time to see them.  The lifeguard said that they were supposed to be at their peak between 10 pm and midnight on Saturday night (around 18-20 ft), and we were going to go back then, but it was raining, so we skipped it.  Sunday, the waves were smaller but still impressive.  Our lifeguard would only let people into their knees.  On Saturday, after the lifeguards were off duty, they had several lifeguards on ATV's crusing up and down the beach whistling at anyone who attempted to go in.  They left the surfers alone, though.  Although we were a little bummed to not swim this weekend, I think it was worth skipping the swim to see the show.  Impressive!

I as well like seeing the big waves, makes for good boogie boarding. Of course not too big though. No one likes to get sucked under and wind up with sand and stones in every crevice.

We just got back and was there all weekend for Bill. The lifeguards let everyone in the water allday Sat & Sun. We played in it for awhile but it would pull you out quickly. We went down in the evening also I did not see any lifeguards on ATV's, we was on 1rts St and everyone was in enjoying the water.
