Well , I guess the season has officially started beings it's President's Day weekend and all.
Woke up this morning, got a cup of coffee, opened my blinds and saw my first tourist letting his dog pee on my rose bush.
I guess the season has begun.

LOL. Every time I wish I could move there, a local gives me a reality check and then it's okay that I don't. Sorry about your bush, but at least you didn't have to use a plastic bag.:)

Three more months.
And Bob, if I had a dog, I'd leave him home just for you. :)

Speaking of dogs (which I really like,by the way).
Because of all the new construction in Delaware the northern part of Ocean City ,bay side, has a booming population of foxes.People who generally just open their doors in the morning and let their dog out could be in for an unpleasent surprise this summer.Several small dogs I.E. poodles, etc have already vanished.
Nothing is being done about it because the foxes are protected and dogs are supposed to be leashed.

We were on the beach in Fenwick Island last June and a fox was roaming along the dune line. It was surpising since it was in the middle of the day but I guess they've gotten used to humans.

As for dogs in OC, I wish people would learn to read the signs posted at each dune crossing which state when dogs are allowed on the beach as well as the law that states they must be on a leash at all times. I've had several run ins and heated exchanges with people who let their dogs run loose on the beach while I'm fishing or just walking with my kids. One person's dog even urinated on my fishing gear:mad: The dog nearly ended up as shark bait:p It irritates me when people let them run loose like the beach is all theirs.

It's not just bayside. In Sept. when we were there, I was up very early watching the sun come up and a fox ran right in front of my oceanfront balcony. Surprised the heck out of me.
And as far as dogs, I never see anyone picking up poop. They just let their dogs poop wherever they want and cover it up with sand. Disgusting. I enjoy going barefoot at the beach and just the thought of tramping in dog dirt makes me angry.
And another thing, if you smoke at the beach, carry a soda can for your butts. It's just as disgusting to have wet butts washing up or next to your chair in the sand. Take responsibility for your pets and your butts.

As a semi-humerous side note. Last year at Assateage, we had 2 naked foxes running around our camping loop. Apparently both had the mange real bad. The rangers and animal control spent several weeks trying to trap them to see if they could treat them. Our poor camp hosts actually got a report from one camper about a band of Dingo's running around. Then some other camper saw one fox catch and eat a seagull, they wanted action right away. She had to remind them that they were camping out in nature, get used to it.

Even more humorous is how you grabbed my attention by mentioning 2 naked "foxes".:D I heard there is an "unofficial" nude beach on Assateague but the people who sunbathe there aren't on the "foxy" side. :p

People who don't clean up after their pets is one of my biggest pet-peeves!

It seems especially bad when it happens in OC with grass and open space being at a premium.

Sitting on our June condo rental's ocean block balcony it's amazing to see how many people will have their dogs just go in the ornamental bushes and shrubs of every condo on the block without cleaning it up!

BTW - Is it me or does it seem that the number of people bringing their pets on vacation with them has grown exponentially over the last five years or so?
