This forum seems to have been not real exciting lately. Maybe it is because OC is swamped with crazy teenagers right now and none of us posters have not been down yet.

So, to generate some discussion, share your 2008 Ocean City vacation plans - anything you want, when you're going, where you are staying, what you plan to eat, see, or do, if you need to refinance your home to fill your gas tank to come down...

I'll lead off...

First, my wife & I were down to OC in mid-April for a weekend. We brought our dog along to the beach for the first time, but we stayed in Dewey Beach. Since we had our dog along, we were able to find a nice motel in Dewey that allowed pets that was very reasonably priced. It was a nice weekend, but we did not enjoy Dewey that much (it is no OC), and next time we will fork over the $$$ to stay at the Clarion in OC, which does allow pets, but they wanted nearly $250/night in mid-April when the motel in Dewey was less than $100.

We will be heading down to OC July 5-12 for the annual trip with my parents and siblings. This year our condo we rented at Amber Waves on 39th Street is being used by the owners that week, so we had to pick somewhere else. So, we ended up getting a unit at the Purnell House on 61st Street. We used to stay as a family at the Nassau Motel a long time ago, which was right beside the Purnell House, but has since been torn down for condos, so we have stayed in that area before. We will hit our usual Victorian Room for breakfast and eat a dinner at the Captain's Galley II. Maybe a first try at Harrison's Harbor Watch for something different. Other than that, we will enjoy the beach, pool, boardwalk, Rehoboth Outlet shopping, and general relaxation. Except for this year we are going to try to spend some time on the boardwalks/side streets in Rehoboth and Bethany for a change of scenery.

Then, just so we don't break down in tears when we leave OC in July, we have a weekend trip planned in October over the Columbus Day weekend, which is also the weekend of the fall car show. This time it will only be my wife & I and we have reservations at the Hilton. More of the same stuff, same restaurants (we are loyal to our good ones we find), more Rehoboth shopping.

We are heading up to OC on 7/13 for 5 nights. We decided to stay at the Francis Scott Key this year. We wanted to try and save a little money from our usual stay at Park Place. We love Park Place but FSK is about a $700 savings. Plus, my 6 year old daughter loves to swim and the pools at FSK look great.

We are planning on going to the Sundaes in the park this year. Also, concerts on the beach and Fishtales is a must. We've planned on going to Fishtales the past couple of years but didn't make it. It's at the top of the list this year.

You do know that FSK is outside of Ocean City ? The parking ,gas and inconvience could off set that $700 real fast.

My husband and I are going down July 16th to the 21st for our annual visit, we need a vacation so the gas prices aren't going to scare us. We always stay on the Boardwalk, it's more expensive but well worth it to be right on the beach and don't have to move the car if we don't want to. We've stayed at the Howard Johnson's Oceanfront Plaza but last year stayed at the Comfort Inn on 5th and it's more convenient and closer to the things we like on the Boardwalk so we re-booked there. We are looking forward to our favorite things..favorite funnel cake stand, Kohr's frozen custard, Thrasher's Fries, Wachenfuss, Dough Roller..bodacious bisquit breakfast at the Brass Balls, Fractured Prune donuts. polish water ice, Bull on The Beach. We usually try one new restaurant each year and we tried Fishtales last year..it was ok, nothing special, wouldn't hurry to go back. This year we are going to try BJ's on the Water. Will stay far away from Mackey's after our last visit 2 years ago..horrible tourist trap, expensive and limited menu. going to try Bagels N' Buns one morning for breakfast...

CAN'T WAIT!!:D:D:D

We were down in May for five days and don't have any plans to return this year. Gas prices and how much everything else has gone up has really put a cramp in our vacation $$. So we'll be taking short day trips instead.

Yes Bob, I know the FSK is outside of OC.

We plan on using their free bus that runs to the boardwalk and back. I understand that they have two buses this year. We will probably drive a little more than we would if we were staying at Park Place but only to places like Fishtales and shops that have free parking.

I don't think our gas while at OC will be more than $40-$50 in our camry.

My entire family is heading to OC the last week of August. Staying at the Ocean Palms. Not a bad condo, we've stayed there before. Going to do the usual with the kids, Splash Mountain, go karting, and going to go to Assateague Island to see the ponies and crab on one of the docks. Can't wait. I usually go down to OC a few times during the summer, but with gas prices the way the are right now, just can't do it. I live in NJ and it would cost well over $100 for gas in my jeep to and from MD. We can only hope gas prices go down so I can get down there more. As in a previous thread, I too miss the Nassau Hotel. Loved staying there. But like everything else, OC has a lot of changes. Can't believe all the crime that is going on down there lately, with senior week. Scary. Everyone enjoy your summer in OC.

Are you aware the FSK offers van service to and from the beach? I think they do a wonderful job and you should definitely enjoy yourselves. I hope you have a great vacation!

Heading down July 5th for a week. Starting out by stopping by Rehoboth on Saturday to see Rockville, Maryland's and Notre Dame's finest, basketball head coach Mike Brey who will be in Rehoboth that week. He's a great friend of mine. Then it's off to OC later in the day. We're staying bayfront on 2nd Street. This is our second year in this location. We love it. My 13 year-old son is bringing his buddy so he'll have a great time. We're bringing our bikes because OC has plenty of bike lanes. I probably logged 100 miles last year. I'm curious to know if Powerhouse Gym closed or just changed hands. Its the place at 611 and 50 in the shopping center.

I've been going to OC since a child. My dad owned one of the first night clubs in OC. We love it.
