I bring out the children and grandchildren and they bring out the child in me, No matter what weather March bestows on us there is always an activity that will keep us happy, Put on a slicker and grab a bucket and go in search of treasures from the sea. THROUGH THE YEARS

Judging by photos taken of our family vacations to Ocean City, MD. I was probably 2 years old the 1st time I visited this town by the sea. I remember staylng downtown at he Tingle Apartments I believe on Dorchester Street. From my bedroom window at night I could see the Ferris Wheel with the Star shaped light spinning around whenever the ride was in motion. It is still there at Trimpers rides. Inside Trimmpers is the Oldest  Carousel still in operation, and The Whip and the Boat Ride. There was a walkthrough Fun House with Laughing Sal rollicking with her maniacal laugh.

BIRDING IN OCEAN CITY, MARYLAND

Yesterday, I drove through the Ocean City Inlet as is my habit when I have meetings on the island.  Thanks to the off season, the Town of Ocean City does not charge parking fees at the inlet.  You can zip in, take a look at the waves crashing on Assateague Island, check out the birds and be gone in a matter of minutes.  I'm not the only one who has this habit.  I saw the head of Ocean City Lifeguards stop by to walk his dog and gaze at the ocean.  Many others do the same, including large numbers of birders with spotting scopes.  Yesterday, however,  I was

A BRIEF HISTORY OF OCEAN CITY, MARYLAND

Ocean City has a wonderful and storied past. An Englishman named Thomas Fenwick, the namesake of the Delaware resort that borders Ocean City to the north, once owned the land that our Ocean City of today rests upon. All who are involved in the city’s tourism today can look to Isaac Coffin as grandfather of that industry.

CABIN FEVER REMEDIES!!!

I've dug the snow out of the driveway, walked and fed the pets, filled the bird feeders, so now it's time to think about myself and Marcie, my wife. Today I am going to walk (carefully) the Ocean City Boardwalk and hopefully capture some awesome Snow shots. Then we will find an Ocean City Restaurant for a sip 'n' bite. The snow has been fun but now more than ever before I want SUMMER to arrive. Although we live a short distance from Ocean City, Maryland at least once a year we stay in an Oceanfront Hotel just to get away from the every day routine.

SNOWMAGEDDON?

I think not, however I did get your attention. Since going outside is an option I chose not to act on, I did the next best thing. Ocean City, MD. Boardwalk Cams. Nothing but snow as far as the cameras eye can see, but if you watch long enough your mind will drift back to Summer Days walking Ocean City's Boardwalk. I see children dragging their parents towards Dumsers Ice Cream Stand and the long line waiting for a Bucket of Thrashers French Fries. A little farther south I see parents coaxing, even bribing children to ride through Trimper's Haunted House.

GO AWAY SNOW, COME ON SUMMER VACATION!

There is nothing like a couple feet of snow to make me long for my summer vacation!  Just think, only a few more months and summer will be here.  Have you made your summer vacation plans yet?  If not, there is no time like the present.

EYE OF THE STORM

I just finished a snowman and an igloo (at least it's supposed to be an igloo, for a munchkin) with my grandchildren. I can't wait until summer when Sand Castles rise up along the shoreline once again. Let's face it, there's something to be said for warm temps as opposed to frostbite! Eventually the sea will reclaim all your work but the sand remains and you can start again as opposed to melting snow. Summer is approaching and it's time to think about vacation rentals.
