Ocean City

Yes, we did indeed get almost a foot of snow.  I don't know the actual amount, but I know that I have at least 12 inches of snow behind my car and it's a LONG way to the street.  So, I don't care if it blew there or fell there, I'm calling this the snow storm of my 6 years on the Shore!!!

Many of those that live in downtown Berlin haven't yet ventured forth.  There is a dearth of footprints in the snow, but those that are there seem to show a high level of activity and energy.  There are snow angels, snowmen, snow kids, and lots of dog prints!  The Town of Berlin has done a great job plowing the main streets.  I'm assuming the larger roads outside of town are also plowed, but since I don't have a snow shovel and shoveling with a trash can lid or sweeping with my broom seems daunting, I won't be taking my car out until I borrow said shovel!  I'll rely on others to report.

I'm dying to see what the Ocean City inlet looks like with this much snow.  Are there still people walking the award winning Ocean City boardwalk?  Has it been shoveled or are there tracks through the snow?  Is there a large zone between water and snow where the sand is washed clean of the white stuff or is it too cold?  Is there ice along the shore?  Are there snow angels on the beach where sandcastles will once again loom large in a few months?  Are the loons still riding the current and fishing lazily?  What are the other shore birds doing? 

Berlin is only 15 minutes from the Route 50 bridge into Ocean City, but it seems far away today.  I'll happily settle for roaming the streets of Berlin.  I'll take a few pictures and post them so you can see just how beautiful Berlin, Maryland is in the snow.  And, I'll hope that some of you will post your pictures of Ocean City, Maryland during THE storm of 2010 -- so far!
