Iron Furnace rides set for Saturday

A 50k, 50 mile and 100k Century non-competitive ride is set for Saturday. Event proceeds will benefit educational and scholarship programs for the Furnace Town Living Heritage Museum and Rotary Club of Snow Hill.

Having no mountains, hills or traffic to contend with, this is the perfect ride for a novice cyclist, families or those wanting to achieve century goals. The ride will start and end at Furnace Town in Snow Hill.

ESA surfing championships come to Ocean City, May 9-12

(April 26, 2013) The Eastern Surfing Association’s 2013 Mid-Atlantic Regional Surfing Championships will take place in Ocean City, May 9-12.

The ESA is the largest amateur surf organization in the United States. More than 300 competitors are expected to compete in surfing and SUP surfing competition, including, Simon Hetrick, Laurel Harrington, Sam Deeley and Tyler Clazey, some of Ocean City’s talent. Competitors are competing for the chance to surf the ESA’s final championship event in September.

(April 4, 2013) Coastal Lacrosse Club has partnered with Salisbury University for its third annual “Lax for Leukemia” fundraiser. On Saturday, the Salisbury men’s lacrosse team will host Mary Washington at 1 p.m. along with the “Lax for Leukemia” fundraiser. The impetus for the fundraiser is Salisbury midfielder Alex Nieves, who was diagnosed with Leukemia in December 2010. After undergoing eight rounds of chemotherapy, Nieves is currently in remission. CRICKET Center golf tournament

The CRICKET Center, Worcester County’s child advocacy center, will sponsor a golf tournament on Friday, May 10, at The Bay Club (East Course) in Berlin.

Cost is $75 per player or $300 per team, and includes 18 holes of golf, cart, breakfast and lunch at The Bay Club. Registration will increase to $85 per player after April 10. All proceeds will benefit the abused children of Worcester County.

OC Elementary PTA golf tourney

The Ocean City Elementary School’s PTA will hold its second annual golf tournament on Monday, March 25, at Ocean City Golf and Yacht Club. Golfers will tee off at 12:30 p.m.

Entry fee is $100 per player and includes a box lunch, goodie bag and Italian dinner. There will be the chance to win a new driver, a new putter, a full set of Taylormade golf clubs and, with a hole in one, a new car from Barrett Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Berlin.

All money raised will benefit the Ocean City Elementary Technology Fund.
