Ok, I’m off topic here…

But come on. It’s in Maryland (ok, not in Ocean City…) and it’s about animals (ok, not wild animals…). It totally (sort of) counts as my post for today!

Fun with a porpoise…

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

Here’s a site with some cute stories aboutt dolphins off the Ocean City beach — and a great photo, too.

My dad and I were just reminiscing the other day about seeing dolphins on our first-ever trip to Ocean City. He calls them porpoises, though, which I always think is kind of cute, even though technically I think that’s a different animal…

Anyway today I got bored and decided to read about dolphins. They’re pretty awesome. Apparently some scientists believe that the two halves of a dolphin’s brain “take turns” sleeping, so he’s always at least half awake! … then again, sometimes I feel like I’m doing that, especially on Monday mornings.

In Search of Vegetarian Food…

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

As one might expect, the Ocean City Wildlife blogger (that would be moi) does not eat meat. Including seafood. Lately, though, I have been having serious trouble finding restaurants in the OC area that have good vegetarian options… Galaxy 66 Bar and Grille has a yummy vegetarian pizza and (apparently vegan, though I would ask about butter…) angel hair pasta appetizer, but not much else. The Bayside Skillet is one of my favorites for breakfast, but for dinner, not so much.

The classic Italian and Mexican standbys work for us ovo-lacto types, but I’m concerned about our vegan friends coming in from the ocean and not being able to find a good dinner. Does anyone have a solution? Or will I have to just keep exploring?
