They look so calm and collected…

Here are the results of the Great Backyard Bird Watch for Ocean City in 2006:
I have to admit there are a lot of species on there I hadn’t heard of, like the Green-winged teal (which to me just looks like a duck with really pretty wings), as well as some of my favorites, like the Night Heron. What are your favorite beach birds?
New oyster bar opens in Maryland, not such a big story.
But look where they got the stone to build it: http://mysite.verizon.net/bizoki1x/id3.html
It’s good to see such well-thought out conservation projects going on. For those of us who grew up in Maryland the Chesapeake Bay waterways and ecosystems will always have a certain sentimental value.
Because if you like to fish, you might want to know which fish to look for.
Because believe it or not, birdwatching is actually kind of fun.
Because everyone’s been on vacation and found some weird bug or lizard or something and wished they could figure out what it was. Right?
Because some of us would like to know where to find the best vegetarian-friendly restaurants and ecologically responsible businesses in Maryland’s favorite beach town.
So if you have any questions about wildlife, ecology, or conservation in the OC area, post a comment and let me know! I’m hoping that this blog will be a source of valuable information to animal-loving travelers.
