New favorite alert!
Oh hey, music fans!
I just found out about a band that is quickly becoming one of my favorite local acts. Pirate Radio, an unsigned alternative-rock quintet whose influences range from punk rock to 90s grunge and alternative. Performing at events like Thirsty Thursdays at Pulse Nite Club, the band is drawing a younger crowd with original songs and fiery, seriously contagious energy.
The other cool thing I found out from their website is that Pirate Radio, like some of our other favorite younger acts (Lower Case Blues, anyone?), does a lot of shows with a new and super exciting organization called DNL, or DelmarvaNightlife.com. DNL organizes multi-act shows around the area at smaller venues like Bamboo Tiki Bar, and promotes them on their website as well as on myspace and other sites. Honestly, the alternative/original music scene around here has not exactly been thriving, so it’s great to see a group like DNL trying to get things organized and give local bands a way to communicate with each other and with fans. Expect to see more DNL shows and promotions in this space in the future.
